Tamilnadu Budget 2013-2014 Highlights

Tamilnadu budget 2013 - 2014 was presented yesterday in the Tamilnadu Assembly. The budget was presented by Tamilnadu Finance Minister Mr. O. Pannerselvam in the presence of Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha. Below are the highlights of the tamilnadu budget 2013 presented by the Tamilnadu Finance Minister in the Tamilnadu Assembly on March 22, 2013.

Tamilnadu Budget  2013 -2014 Highlights

General highlights of Tamilnadu Budget  2013 -2014
 
- Rs 2.11 lakh Crore will be spent of the budget for the financial year 2013-2014.
- Tamilnadu growth rate will be 4.61. The growth rate is mainly affecetd due to Drought and  power cut. 
- No change in Tax Rates this year. Existing tax rates will continue nad there will be no new additional tax this year.
- Rs, 37,000 had been allotted for various schemes this financial year.
- There is a deficit of Rs 22,939 crore
- Rs 6,452 crore allotted for Road Highways. The road link between Chennai to Mamallapuram will be upgraded to 4 lane.
- Rs 750 crore alloted for Metro Rail
- Rs 21,000 crore allotted for new Power Projects that willbe coming up this year. Second Power Plant coming up in north chennai will be operational from October
- Rs 16,965 crore allotted for School Education in Tamilnadu.
- Rs 4,900 crore as Food Subsidy had been announced in the budget.
- Rs 250 crore allotted to distribute 12,000 free cows, 6 lakh free goats to women this year.
- Rs 32.5 crore allotted to set up 7 new Rice Mills in Tamilnadu.
- 2 lakh Free house land pattas will be distributed in 2013-14
- Rs 362 crore allotted for free dhoti, saree distribution.
- Aadhar Linked schemes will be implemented throughout Tamilnadu this year.
- Rs 99.73 crore earnmarked to eliminate Urban Poverty in Tamilnadu.

School Education highlights of Tamilnadu Budget  2013 -2014

- Rs 16,965 crore allotted for School Education in Tamilnadu
- Rs 217 crore earnmarked for free textbooks to be distributed to 97 lakh students
- Rs 110 crore allotted for free notebooks to be distributed to 86 lakh students
- Rs 381 crore allotted as stipend to 24.76 lakh students this year
- Rs 700 crore allotted for Education for All schemes in Tamilnadu
- Rs 322 crore allotted for free bus pass distribution to students

Agriculture highlights of Tamilnadu Budget  2013 -2014

Rs 5,189 crore allotted for agri sector this year.
- Rs. 39,235 crore woth of  agricultural loans to be distributed this fiscal year
- Rs 237 crore allotted to built 2270 storage infrastructures in Tamilnadu
- Rs 161 crore allotted for quality seed production to be distributed to farmers
- Vegetables farm land to be increased to 8.2 lakh acre in Tamilnadu
- Rs 1082 crore allotted for Animal Husbandary
- Rs 42 crore allotted for crop insurance
- Rs 50 crore allotted for Nun-neer pasanam
- Rs 34 crore allotted for Vegetable waste recycling process
- Rs 50 crore allotted for liquid fertilizer in Nun-Neer Pasanam
- Rs 21 crore allotted for Garden development Skill schemes in Tamilnadu
- Rs 200 crore allotted for Fisheries in Tamilnadu

Police Judiciary highlights of Tamilnadu Budget  2013 -2014

- Rs 695 Crore allotted for judicial department in Tamilnadu
- 17,000 vacancies to be filled in Police Department
- Rs. 4,706 crore allotted for Polce Department
- Rs. 208 crore allotted for Fire Department
- Rs 50 crore allotted for Police Station building infrastructure in Tamilnadu

Other highlights of Tamilnadu Budget  2013 -2014

- 2,700 lakh acre land retrieved through anti land forgery law
- Rs 56 crore for linking rivers.
- 65 lakh tree saplings to be planted this year
- Rs 750 crore allotted for Chief Minsiter insurance scheme
- Rs 880 crore allotted for Environment department
- Rs 1400 crore allotted for primary Healthcare department
- Rs 750 crore allotted for Maternity care
- 2 bridge to be built at Madurai Kalavasal and Koripalayam. 4 new bridges to come up in chennai
- Rs 2000 crore allotted for infrastructure
- Rs 1500 crore allotted for free laptops to 6 lakh students
- Rs 100 crore allotted for Plastic recycles roads to be laid at major routes in Tamilnadu
- Solar Power to be installed in all Government buildings.
- 9914 vacancies to be filled in Cooperative societies
- Rs 37 Crore allotted for drinking water
Rs 39 crore allotted for Tamil Development
- Rs 5 crore allotted to develop skill of youth
- Rs 2 crore allotted for Thanjai Tamil University
- 8 new Art Colleges to be set up in Tamilnadu
- MGREGA pay increased from Rs 138 to Rs 142
