People clean the house and light the lamp in pooja room then they light agarbathis and sambranis to fill the house with good fragrance. The symbol of purity is white so people wear white costumes, jasmine flowers and also do pal payasam.

According to the hindu scripture each and every individual should celebrate the day by doing the following things to bring peace, prosperity and happiness:

• Buy food and donate to the poor.
