Election Commission had announced that the Pudukottai by election 2012 will be held on June 12 2012. The counting of votes would be done on June 15 2012. Election Commission will issue a notification regarding this by election on May 18 2012. This by election is called as the present sitting CPI MLA of Pudukottai Mr. Muthukumaran had died in a road accident. He was killed in a road accident on April 01 2012.
