Tomato Uthapam is one of the dosa variety which is very tasty and delicious dish that can be had for breakfast. It is easy to prepare and is sure a favorite among all food lovers.
Ingredients for making Tomato Uthapam Recipe
2 cups Idli rice
1 cup Urad dal
1 tomato
1 onion
2 greenchillies
1 tsp pepper powder
A Handful of aval
How to prepare Tomato Uthapam Recipe
1. Idli rice and Urad dhal should be soaked in water for about 6 hours. Grind the ingredients well till you get a thick batter.

2. Add handful of Aval to the batter and keep it for fermentation as you normally keep for idli/dosa batter.
3. Heat the Dosa tawa in medium flame and pour the batter. The batter should be in thick consistency.
4. Garnish the uthapam with sliced tomato, onion and few green chillies pieces.
5. When the Uthapam comes to golden brown color remove from the tawa and serve hot.
Hot tomato Uthapam would be a good combination with Onion chutney.
